So lets just say that you have found your child accessing apps or websites that we now know are extremely dangerous. What do we do next? How do we know how to delete these accounts. From Facebook to Bang with friends, every app or site will be different on how to delete.
I have noticed over the years that trying to delete accounts are getting harder. Why do you think they are getting harder? They don’t want people to leave…. easy. They would rather you leave an account active but not in use, so that they can still show you as as user for marketing numbers. This keeps their numbers high on how many users they have. This is an old trick that some companies have been using, but fortunately there are people out there that care enough to help give walk throughs on deletion.
Laws will continue to change on account deletion over the next few years, hopefully making it mandatory for sites and apps to have an easy deletion process. What I am speaking in reference to is what happened with Spam emails. Did you know that anyone that sends you an email advertisement has to offer a link inside that email for an inscribe button to not sent you automatic emails again. Companies will usually hide it at the bottom and even make it appear to be just text and not a link. As diligent as I am not to provide my good email addresses to companies or mailing lists, it seems someone always gets through and starts sending me advertisement emails. When you get these kinds of emails, remember to look for the hidden unsubscribe button, because they have to put it there now. This will keep from filling your email inbox with advertisements.
Now on to how to delete accounts. Remember if you are talking about an App on your mobile device, just deleting the app from the screen does not delete the account from the site. For example, if I am revoking my daughters Facebook privileges, and I delete the app from her phone, that doesn’t mean she can’t log in from another device or a computer. To completely delete accounts, you sometimes have to log into the website via an internet browser and manually delete the account. Every social media site is different, so I wanted to be able to make this easy for you with one click of the mouse.
I have found an awesome website that categorizes popular websites and social media sites and gives you step my step instructions on how to permaneatly delete accounts. If they do not have the site that you wish to delete an account from, they have a great customer service support team that will research the site and get information up on their site on how to delete it.
